Fall Sixes

In cooperation with all of the East Georgia Youth Lacrosse associations and Columbia County Boys and Girls High School programs, we are very excited to announce the innaugural season of our Sixes League!

Designed with the future of the game in mind, Sixes is an up-and-coming format that emphasizes the key elements of Lacrosse: speed, stick skills, and field awareness.  In 2028, Lacrosse will return as a medal sport in the Olympic Games for the first time in 120 years, utilizing the Sixes format.

It is our goal to provide players of all ages an off-season opportunity to work on their skills, athleticism, and game-awareness through competition in this exciting new style of Lacrosse.

ALC Modified Rules

Possessions

  • - A pre-game coin toss will determine possessions for the start of each half (winner of the coin toss can decide to start with the ball or defer).
  • - No draws of face-offs - The possessing team Goalie will start with the ball in their crease to begin each half.  Goalies will start with the ball after any goal is scored on them.
  • - No chase-outs - The team who last touched the ball before it goes out of bounds will lose possession in any situation (shots included).

Substitutions

  • - Automatic Subs - Any player who takes a shot must immediately sub off the field, regardless of the outcome of the shot.  They cannot return until at least one other substitution has occurred on their own team.
  • - Substitutions can occur at any point in the game.  During live play, or a stoppage.
  • - Players cannot enter the field until their teammate has fully crossed the sideline.

Fouls

  • - We will adhere to the standard GHSA rules for in-game fouls.
  • - All minor fouls will result in a player needing to sub off.  A teammate is allowed to fill their position and no time must be served.
  • - All major fouls will result in a 30-second penalty to be served by the fouling player.

Miscellaneous

  • Stall Calls - After approximately one minute of possession has occurred, the referee can announce a "stall call" at their discretion, and the possessing team must take a shot within 10 seconds as counted off by the official, otherwise they will lose possession.
  • - No Regular Season overtime. Regular season games can end in a tie.  No extra time will be awarded.
  • - Playoff games that end in a tie will hold a sudden-victory overtime.
